Rational Design of NADES for Natural Compound Extraction
Zagreb, February 19-21, 2025
Workshop Overview
The Stationary Research Workshop hosted by the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology of the University of Zagreb’s (SUZG PBF) will focus on the rational design and application of Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) for the efficient extraction of bioactive compounds from natural sources. This hybrid event combines theoretical lectures, practical lab sessions, and essential project management discussions tailored to both in-person and online participants. The workshop will provide an engaging platform for knowledge sharing, hands-on learning, and collaborative research.
WORKSHOP FORMAT
Open Sessions (Day 1):
This part of the workshop is open to all participants, both in-person and online. It features a series of comprehensive lectures on NADES fundamentals, environmental sustainability, and methods for characterizing extracted products. Additionally, there will be a research webinar on effective grant writing led by Prof. Mohammad Taherzadeh from the Swedish Centre for Resource Recovery (SCRR), offering invaluable guidance on structuring and presenting successful research proposals.
Closed Sessions (Days 2 & 3):
These sessions are reserved exclusively for INBIOWAL project participants. They include hands-on lab work, where researchers will apply computational methods to design NADES and perform extractions of bioactive compounds. The closed sessions also feature practical workshops on grant writing, as well as project management meetings to discuss ongoing research results and future strategies.
