Workshop on Rational Design of NADES for Natural Compound Extraction - February 19-21, 2025

During this three-day workshop, researchers will explore the innovative use of Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) for extracting valuable bioactive compounds from natural sources. The event will include lectures on the environmental and economic benefits of NADES, hands-on lab sessions, and a research webinar on effective grant writing. Key project management topics will also be discussed. Participants will gain practical experience in designing and optimizing NADES for real-world applications.
Workshops on Enzyme Use in Unconventional Media for Biomass Valorization and Fragrance Synthesis - May 5-7, 2025

POLIMI and SCITEC-CNR will host workshops focused on using enzymes in unconventional media, such as NADES and ionic liquids, for chemoenzymatic biomass valorization and the synthesis of fragrance compounds. Participants will engage in hands-on lab sessions and theoretical lectures exploring how enzymes, like lipases and hydrolases, catalyze reactions more sustainably. The event will showcase advanced biocatalytic processes for creating valuable products used in industries like cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals.
INBIOWAL Scientific Hackathon, May 2026

The INBIOWAL project will kick off with an exciting Scientific Hackathon aimed at engaging young scientists, PhD, MSc, and BSc students in developing innovative solutions for waste valorization. The hackathon will focus on generating ideas that bring both environmental and economic benefits, aligning with the project’s goals of sustainable biorefining. Participants will work in interdisciplinary teams, enhancing their scientific creativity, organizational skills, and networking abilities. The event will foster collaboration across fields, promoting the development of cutting-edge technologies for transforming by-products into valuable compounds.

Research Webinar: Effective Writing of Grant Applications

As part of the stationary research workshop on NADES at the University of Zagreb, participants will attend the “Effective Writing of Grant Applications” webinar, led by Mohammad Taherzadeh from SCRR. The session will provide essential guidance on structuring successful grant proposals, addressing key evaluation criteria, and effectively presenting research objectives, aimed at improving the participants’ ability to secure research funding.

INBIOWAL Patronates the 5th NextGenBiocat Symposium

The 5th NextGenBiocat Symposium, patronated by the INBIOWAL project, will bring together young scientists, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers to discuss the latest advancements in biocatalysis. The event will feature presentations on applied biocatalysis, enzymatic mechanisms, protein and metabolic engineering, and light-promoted enzymatic processes. Attendees will also explore high-throughput screening methods and multi-enzyme cascade reactions. This symposium aims to foster collaboration and inspire innovation in sustainable enzyme technology.

INBIOWAL Kick-off Meeting – September 25-27, 2024

The INBIOWAL project officially launched with a three-day Kick-off Meeting held at UPWr. During the meeting, project partners from six international institutions gathered to discuss the strategic direction of the project, review work packages, and establish the collaborative framework for future activities. This meeting marked the beginning of an exciting international research effort focused on green technologies for waste valorization. The event included presentations from all partners and outlined the milestones for the first year of the project.
